DEIJUVHS

Rising up from the squats of London comes Deijuvhs; a prophet and a problem. Born from a diet of chaos and invention, Deiju has become the leader of an underground scene made up of skaters, punks, rappers, rebels and misfits. Having built a legend in London both with his self-released tracks - which fuse the metal rage of the likes of Drowning Pool and Deftones with the distorted rap of XXXTENTACION and the euphoric rush of the UK breakbeat culture – and his underground festival Lamesfest (somewhere between a rave, a fight club and the best night of your life) - he first surfaced in 2019 upon winning Pirate Studios search for the best new MC in the UK - as voted for by the public. This crowing moment was undercut - covid hit and the live shows shut down. Rather than walk away from music, Deij locked himself away in the East London warehouse he inhabited with a revolving cast of outsiders, and started writing more tracks than ever.

The time was well spent, and Deij emerged triumphant in 2021 with his instant classic mixtape Flower Ghoul. Ten tracks of genre spanning genius, Flower Ghoul saw Deiju firing out everything from the sadboi drum n bass of Butterfly to the thrashing grunge of Scumbag Anthem. Lyrically the album dealt with love, loneliness, and heartbreak, addiction, the highs and lows of a party lifestyle, and the eternal battle between boredom and euphoria. It was raw as it was hopeful, and sounded like nothing else out there. Bolstered by a wild touring schedule with his live band - a collection of similarly chaotic misfits called The Lameboiz - the mixtape introduced some much needed innovation back into a tired UK scene. It ended up taking residence in a head spinning range of playlists, including numerous best of the year round ups from Spotify - which other artist could simultaneously crash into Fresh Finds Class of 2021, Fresh Finds: Dance: Best of 2021, Fresh Finds: UK+IE Best of 2021 and Fresh Finds Class of 2021: Indie.. It’s safe to say he’d arrived...

Now he’s returned with another collection of songs, Perpetual States of Boredom, a meditation on love, depression, suicide, the outcomes of sudden popularity, and the dreams of brighter futures. With a sonic palette that takes in old skool jungle, pop punk, cold wave and metal, the EP sums up the eclectic ADHD tastes of a generation raised on streaming - with the lyrics dealing with the fall out of such an existence. With a tour round the country booked in to support the EP, Deij is ready to to change the game once more.
